Will Nolan start against QPR?
Now he's had a good fifteen mins under his belt, I bet BFS is itching to restore Allardyce Jr to his 'rightful' place in the starting 11.

No need for this thread Eddie, we all know the answer.

Should he start? No
Will he start? Yes.

I would be more than happy if i never see him in claret and blue again

BUT HE WAS ALMOST THE HERO ON SATURDAY... IF ONLY HIS OVERSIZED STOMACH WAS NOT OFFSIDE... OHHHH THE PAIN

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Downing has been very good in 'the hole' and should retain his place there. If Noble is back then I see no reason why Poyet shouldn't start. But if Noble is out then I think it's nailed on the Sam's captain will start.

Only if certain players are not fit.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Whilst im not a big fan of Nolan as a player, I have to say that, in spite of the criticism sent his way, he's never 'cupped' his ear to us when scoring a goal.

He's a good professional, good captain but a woeful footballer at times. Pity.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Will be interesting.

Allardyce made a big thing of not rushing Valencia & Sakho into the team and it ended up taking them best part of 2 months to regain match fitness.

Nolan has been out for a considerable period so the same rationale should apply. Downing should start in the hole, if he is unavailable for whatever reason then Zarate should start and should he also be unavailable then (and only then) should Nolan start,

Any other decision would be grossely unfair on whoever gets dropped.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
All the pace we had going forward in the last few matches will be gone when we have a lumbering passenger, who gets the ball, stops, cuts back and lays it off.

Do me a favour.

I said he will start as soon as he is fit, and you said you were keeping it for a later date to pull me up on. Now it's because of other players not being fit?

With Downing playing so well in 'his' position, and Armadillo capable of it, he shouldn't be near to starting.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
We're not going to replave Downing with Nolan, he might do something else but I'm not sure what it could be though.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Well he was obviously fit to start last Saturday but did not so how do you explain your comment that as soon as he was fit he would be an automatic starter?

Eerie Descent 3:44 Mon Sep 29
Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Fully fit, you know, like Valencia & Sakho had to be before they could start.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Wake up and smell the toffee because Nolan will never be fit like Valencia and Sakho.

Admit you were in error about him being a shoe in starter when fit to play.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Nolan could actually prosper in playing in a team with pace all around him. The strength of his game, or the only plus point, is that he has a ridiculous knack of getting into the right place at the right time.

It's no coincidence that he had the ball in the net at Old Trafford within minutes of coming on. It's what his whole career has been based on.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
You know full well I meant once he is up to full match fitness, Comma.

He'll start against QPR, nailed on.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
Depends if Noble is back or not, if he is then no Nolan shouldn't start. If Noble's still out we could perhaps do with his experience on the pitch.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
This 'hounding' of Nolan is getting a bit embarrasing now. I'm not his biggest fan, but he's not half as bad as some on here will have you believe, and i think is worthy of a bit more respect, Its like people have to have someone to dig out from out club at all times, even when things are going alright.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
I haven't been Nolans biggest fan but I'd actually like to see him given a chance. He's a poacher and we've been a lot more active around the box recently. We've been creating the situations he thrives on.

White Pony 4:27 Mon Sep 29

Struggling to see where he fits into the starting line up, personally.

Re: Will Nolan start against QPR?
BFS will basically fill Kouyate's role with Nolan.

Song

Noble Nolan

Downing

Or alternatively will pull Downing to left diamond, ala Hull, and put Nolan in.

As per my other thread, Zarate is the one who will suffer as instead of getting his chance, he'll see Captain Fantastic come lumbering past him.

Only hope is Nolan might suffer from dizziness as the fast paced game goes on around him.
